Emily Carr : Tree in the sky

During the trip of AGO, I found this painting by Emily Carr "Tree in the sky" particularly interesting out of all the Highlight of the Canadian Collection. The reason why I thought it was interesting is because of the calm colour and the flying trees, how they also looked like jellyfishes to me (haha don't you think so too?). Personally, the calm colour made me felt sad, which the flying trees (jellyfishes) are going back to the sky (ocean?) because either they don't like the place/environmental factors? how people were not caring for the trees, which made them sad and want to leave/they will all be gone in the future? I love this painting a lot, not only just because the meaning of the painting, but also her style of painting is just very interesting that I have been standing there for minutes compare to the others.

My instant sculpture

For my instant sculpture made from household items, I decided to use my perfume collection as my theme, because I believed using something I love to create my sculpture would be interesting. At first, I was trying to stack them as high as possible, unfortunately I can't. Due to their very own shapes and weights, it make it very difficult to balance them up. In the end, I decided to stack and balance them base on their own flat surface. As I am working on this sculpture, it remind me of playing jenga, because it also require me to practice on my perfect steady hand skill in order to create the stable state for my sculpture or else it would fall fall and fall.
There are two main artistic elements I found as I am working through my sculpture, and they are shape and balance. Each perfume has their very own unique shapes defined by line, colour, texture in the surrounding area, which inspire me to create this abstract sculpture ( kind of abstract, I believe ). As for balance, this is consider as asymmetrical and informal. Meaning the objects are not evenly and equally balanced from one point, which again make it hard to stack. This type of balance is unusual and intriguing, just like my perfume sculpture. :)

"Creativity"

Hello, Bloggers

My name is Emily, I am 19 years old and am a second year ECE student at Ryerson. Being a professional ECE has always been my future goal, not only because I love working and interacting with children, also I believe childhood is a very important stage for every child. Since every child should have a memorable childhood, so as an ECE I would love to be part of them to create all those lovely memories. I am a perfectionist who loves to organize my notes by using all sorts of colour pens, putting things in one direction, and sorting and matching things in order such as from dark to light colours etc. When I am working with children, I love to create all sorts of new and fun materials and activities to get children to involve, which I guess I would consider these as my “creative” traits. I love spending time with my family and friends- eating, shopping, partying, travelling, messaging and chatting through phone and internet.

Through this blog I will be discussing what “creativity” means to me as I am learning through my course CLD215 Creative Arts. I will be updating my blog with my view of what inspire me, make me creative and how creativity is related to Early Childhood Education. To me, “creativity” is not just an art or a product made by inspiration, instead it would be a way of how creators express, reflect, and communicate their stories and messages through the process of an art and a product. I believe everyone can be creative with just about anything; writing a poem/song, drawing/painting an artwork, and making/building a structure etc. Everyone should be able to find a way to express their creativity. This is my first official blog, I am very excited to share my view of creativity with all of you and I would also love to hear all of your perspective too. Enjoy :)

Here is a list of pictures I found that I thought is creative, fun and cute :)
Well, personally... what do you think?
